On the 5th of September a one day conference NMR for Industry took place at the University of Stirling. It was organised on behalf of the Scottish NMR User Group (SNUG) by Dr Nicholle Bell, who did a splendid job, attracting more than 30 active participants from a dozen of companies.

Sponsored by ScotCHEM and NMR manufacturers (BRUKER, JEOL, Nanalysis, Oxford Instruments, Magritek and GPE Scientific), delegates were presented by an introduction to liquid, solid and bench top NMR, followed by practical examples of industrial applications of NMR. The newly developed SNUG web page was presented for the first time, as a portal for accessing NMR instrumentation and expertise in Scotland. A borrowing scheme for an NMReady benchtop NMR was also announced.

We have received a positive feedback for this event. Participants uniformly reported on their increased knowledge of NMR and awareness on how to access NMR in Scotland. We look forward to working with our industrial partners.
