NERC Independent Research Fellowship awarded to Dr. Nicholle Bell

Award for University of Edinburgh academic

Congratulations to Dr. Nicholle Bell, who has just been awarded a 5 year NERC Independent Research Fellowship on the topic of “Molecular, microbial & enzymatic synergies and their significance to peatland condition.”

The NERC Independent Research Fellowship (IRF) scheme is designed to develop scientific leadership among the most promising early-career environmental scientists, by giving all fellows five years' support, which will allow them sufficient time to develop their research programmes and to gain international recognition.

Nicholle intends to apply liquid and solid state NMR spectroscopy and other analytical techniques, notably FT-ICR MS, to study peatlands. SNUG members wish her all the success in this demanding research.
