Salary: Grade 7 (£32,236-£39,609)
The Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) is a fully integrated drug discovery operation based within a world class Life Sciences research environment. Its remit is to complement BioPharma activities by tackling both neglected diseases (trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis and malaria) and early stage small molecule validation of novel targets & mechanisms across a range of potential therapeutics areas. The DDU works to Biotech style philosophy and standards incorporating, dynamic, goal driven project management based on Target Product Profiles and Compound Selection Criteria. The project goals are therapeutic area dependent but range from quality leads demonstrating disease model proof of concept, through to pre-clinical candidates.
We are looking for a highly motivated analytical chemist to join our team. The post will be primarily laboratory-based working as part of our drug discovery teams. The role will have a major focus in NMR spectroscopy and in high-performance liquid-chromatography/mass spectrometry (HPLC/MS). The NMR spectroscopy will focus on structure elucidation, and fragment and small molecule screening using NMR. The LCMS will require method development and analysis of compounds. Working closely with the NMR Team Leader you will be required to liaise with medicinal chemists, analytical chemistry staff and technical personnel to ensure compounds are analysed correctly to the highest possible standards.
Ideally you will have experience of working in both NMR and LCMS. However, training can be provided in the latter.
The post is available immediately. Read the full job description here.
